Drivers ignoring mobile phone ban
The number of UK drivers using mobile phones at the wheel has increased dramatically since a ban was introduced a year ago, according to a survey, reports Ananova. "Driving while using a hand-held mobile phone was outlawed last December. A road safety Bill, due to be presented in the Queen's Speech, is expected to toughen up penalties, doubling the maximum fine to £60 and allowing three points to be added to offenders' licences. But the RAC said the numbers of motorists admitting to talking on their mobiles as they drive had gone up from 10% a year ago to 40% now." |
