Registered Labels Attach To Portable Items
A lost and found service claims it can help get your misplaced or lost items back with a simple label. It's called StuffBak, but does it work?, 10News.com looks into it. "StuffBak are uniquely numbered labels which attach to portable items that could get lost; like cell phones, cameras or laptop computers. The labels are about $2 each and can be applied to just about anything. Labels are registered via a Web site or by calling a toll-free number. Once someone finds the lost item, they can call the phone number on the label and receive an award. The owner is then notified and the item is shipped to him or her. 10News reporter Leonard Villarreal tested StuffBak labels with an array of electronic items. Villarreal "loses" a cell phone, a pair of sunglasses and a Palm Pilot in Old Town, San Diego. He "misplaces" a digital camera and a cell phone at the beach and he "loses" a laptop computer at a library. So what stuff did Villarreal get back? One cell phone, a Palm Pilot and the laptop computer were returned. StuffBak advertises five out of six items are returned. Villarreal got back three items out of seven items lost. But for $2 of protection each, the investment seemed worth the expense." |
