Police say fight crime-fight text is GR8
Another precinct, this time in South Devon, is counting on text messaging to crackdown on crime, according to a local bulletin. "The police are hoping to use the phones to enlist the community as their eyes and ears. Text messages could alert members of the public to incidents such as stolen cars, robberies or suspicious activity". In other instances, in Ulslter or Norfolk, the system works the other way around, whereby the police simply relies on the population to report crimes by SMS and provide a special number to text in.
