In India, the Chennai City Traffic Police introduced a new SMS service and a caution chalan system for those violating traffic rules, reports News India Today. "Through the SMS service, the public can inform the traffic control room about traffic accidents, vehicle breakdown and traffic jams, he said. Also, the public can get detailed information before buying a particular vehicle that might have violated traffic rules by just sending an SMS - R followed by the registration and engine number of the vehicle.
