Campaign war via SMS

The multiple ‘yes’ and ‘no’ campaigns by SMS for the referendum to reunite the Greek and Turkish sides of the Mediterranean island is starting to aggravate mobile users, according to the Cyprus Mail "For the past three days, people have been receiving SMS messages promoting political views on the referenda and advising them to vote either ‘no’ or ‘yes’. Dozens of different messages against the Annan plan have been sent to people as well as an increasing amount of messages in favour of the plan.

Paris Menelaou from CyTA yesterday told the Cyprus Mail it would be impossible for CyTA to check all messages that pass through their system. “Do people suggest we read all the messages, locate the ‘yes’ and ‘no’ campaign ones and block them? There are thousands of messages passing through every day. No human hand touches the messages,” said Menelaou. cf related article "Oxi" fever by SMS .
