At the Olympics, every Australian competitor will be reachable by SMS
Desperate to avoid a repeat of the panic and confusion that followed the bomb blast at the 1996 Atlanta Games, Australian Olympic Committee president John Coates said every Australian competitor will be contactable via SMS. "The Centennial Olympic Park blast, which killed one person and injured 100 others, occurred about 1.30am local time and Coates said it wasn't until 7am that all the Australian athletes were accounted for." |
