DoCoMo fighting SMS Spam

NTT DoCoMo announced new anti-spam countermeasures to cope with an increase in spam sent via "Short Mail," the short messaging service for DoCoMo's cellular and PHS phones, according to Geekzone.

"Under the new countermeasures, which become effective on April 1, 2004, if a customer complains to DoCoMo about spam from a particular sender, DoCoMo will identify the source and then deny the sender access to all DoCoMo services for specified period of time. Once the suspension finishes, if further complaints are received from other customers, DoCoMo will terminate the spammer's subscriptions to all handsets."
