Banks' cash machines to offer top-ups for mobiles

This is a cool service offered to customers of the Royal Bank of Scotland and NatWest. Not only will they be able to withdraw cash out of an ATM machine, but will soon be able to "top up" their mobile phones, reports the Edinburgh Evening News. It is the first time a major high street bank has offered the service which will be available to pre-pay phone users with Orange, Vodafone, O2, T-Mobile and Virgin networks. Amounts between £10 and £50 will be credited to mobiles when customers type in the pre-pay phone number as prompted by the cash machine.

Benny Higgins, chief executive of retail banking for RBS and Nat West, said: "Cash machines with their dependable, round-the-clock access, have become a vital part of our lives and increasingly mobile phones have too".
