Orange launches new child track system
Mapminder has launched a mobile location service that enables anyone on the Orange network to be tracked down through his or her mobile phone, a service being aimed at parents to keep tabs on their kids, according to Netimperative. "The service, called Mapaphone, uses network-based software to track the phone to its nearest mobile base station which means the service will be far more accurate in metropolitan areas where base stations are more prevalent. Mapaphone can be "as accurate as 100 metres in urban areas but may be up to 1-2 km in rural parts," according to a statement by the company.
